Activities

In Middle School we are all encouraged to do at least one activity each term. To be able to sign up for activities you need to go onto the UWCSEA website (on the internet) and sign up there. You will need to have a user name and password (for Studywiz) which will be given to you by the school. You will get these when you get to school and this is what you use to access the UWCSEA website. On the website there will be links for activities, you follow these links and look at the overview of activities. When you have chosen which activities you want to take, you continue and you select your top three choices. Depending on the demand for your choices, you will get into at least one activity, and/or be put on a waiting list. Sometimes you can get all three of your choices.

The range of activities covers sport (competitive and recreational), art (e.g. photography, accessory creation), music (e.g. Jazz ensemble, string orchestra) and language (e.g. the Write Site, Chinese learning support).

Your activity can be early before school (e.g. Cross Country) but usually they are after school from 3:05 - 4:20 pm, 4:30 - 6:00pm or 6:00 - 7:30 pm. There are activity buses (see transportation) that leave school at 4:30 to take you home, but if you have an activity that ends later you will need to arrange your own transportation. You should check what time and day your activities are at before you sign up so you know you can make it to all of them.

Some sports, music and drama activities will hold trials or auditions to select their team for leagues or upcoming events. Trials will be held on separate days and you will be informed about this before the day. Anybody can ask for a trial or audition.
